How pages are calculated by CLI OCR License

The page counter of the CLI OCR licenses is based on the size of DIN A4 pages (210 x 297 mm).

  • If a page smaller than A4 format is processed then also one page is counted.
  • If a page in A3 format is OCRed, the page counter will be decreased by 2 A4 pages.
  • If you process larger pages, like a newspaper page, then the counter might be reduced by 3-5, depending also on the size / number of pixels of the original document.
  • For pages larger than A4 the counter of recognized pages increases by the number
    (area of the page)/(area of A4)
  • To calculate the width and height of page we use the following formula:
    int imageWigth = image→GetWidth() / max( 1, image→GetResolution() )
    int imageHeight = image→GetHeight() / max( 1, image→GetResolution() ); [image is an Image Object].
    • This object represents a single “image plane” (black-and-white, color or preview) of an image in internal format.
    • imageWigth and imageHeight are values in inches.
    • If you need the size in centimeters you just need to know 1 inch = 2,54 cm.

What is the largest supported font size for OCR?

What is the largest image size in pixels?

  • CLI Tool can open image formats up to 32512*32512 pixels.

Recommendation

Process some real life documents that are already scanned and see how the page counter behaves. Especially PDFs can have pages of different sizes in one document.

NEW: Starting from release 6 there is a possibility to control the decreasing of the licence counter units. A new key -lpw --largePagesWarning checks the size of all pages in the input document and in case one of the document pages is larger than A4 format the execution of the command will be stopped and a warning will be displayed.
